India fast bowler Umesh Yadav said that captain Virat Kohli will participate in the third Test against Australia at Ranchi.

Kohli did not take the field after suffering a shoulder injury in the second session on day one of the Test.

Even on day two, he sat out proceedings as Ajinkya Rahane took up captaincy duties in the Delhi batsman’s absence.

The BCCI had earlier said that there were “no serious concerns” about Kohli’s injury.

Umesh, who took three wickets in Australia’s first innings, mentioned that Kohli is ready to play and has been batting in the nets.

“The bandage will obviously be there because if you have a shoulder injury, you need the bandage to hold it together but he is ready to play,” said Umesh.

“He has been batting in the nets as well, so obviously he will come back.”

Despite not fielding for a long period, Kohli can bat at any position in the batting order as his injury has deemed to be external.
