  • Jasprit Bumrah is a Zlatan Ibrahimovic fan.

Fresh from his series-winning performance in Sri Lanka, Jasprit Bumrah wasted no time in hitting the gym to prepare for the upcoming visit of Australia.

The right-handed pacer took 15 wickets in India’s 5-0 whitewash of the islanders and was rightly adjudged the man-of-the-series for his incredible returns.

But it seems a break is the last thing on the mind of the Mumbai Indians player as he shared a video of himself doing some heavy lifting in the gym on Twitter.

Even more interesting is the caption which Bumrah accompanied with the video. “‘Lions dont compare themselves with humans ‘- zlatan ibrahimovic. Classic zlatan quote wish I had the same charisma which he has.#zlatanfan,” the 23-year-old wrote.

It certainly looks like the youngster is a big man of Manchester United’s Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The ‘lions’ quote is one of the many cheeky comments attributed to the outspoken centre-forward who certainly has bags of charisma to go with his big personality.

Focus on having a supremely fit team has become India’s mantra of late and the sentiment has been echoed from top to bottom with Chief Selector MSK Prasad, coach Ravi Shastri and skipper Virat Kohli all giving statements to that effect in recent times.

It was no surprise then to see another member of the Men in Blue’s squad, Ajinkya Rahane, post a similar work-out video on his Twitter profile.

The right-handed batsman who was also part of the Sri Lankan tour wrote: “Never an off day: getting ready for the next challenge #INDvAUS.”

Team India welcome Steve Smith’s Australia for a series of five ODIs and three T20Is starting on September 17 at Chennai. The Aussies will play a warm-up match against the BCCI Board President’s XI on Tuesday.

After the matches against Australia, India will host their neighbours New Zealand for three ODIs and as many T20Is.
