According to a press release by the PCB, the 27-year-old was found to be guilty of violation of several clauses of his central contract after his outburst against national team coach Mickey Arthur last month.

A disciplinary committee had been initiated by the PCB following Akmal’s impromptu press-conference to the media where he had alleged Arthur to have discriminated against him from using the facilities at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore as well as using verbal abuse towards the batsman.

The committee found Akmal in violation of clauses 2.2.5, 4.1 and 4.4 on several occasions according to the press release. The mentioned clauses bar any signatory to the central contract with the PCB to speak to the media, give an interview or issue a statement without prior permission of the board.

It also restricts the player from speaking out against the team management. Akmal is not currently a signatory to the PCB’s central contract but all signatories remain bound to it until a year after its expiry.

The right-handed batsman was imposed a fine of one million Pakistan rupees along with the match suspension.

Akmal accused Arthur of verbal abuse and discrimination last month.

The biggest blow to Akmal will be the decision of the PCB to not issue him any No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for plying his trade in the various T20 leagues around the world for a period of two months.

This means that the Pakistan batsmen will not be able to participate in the Bangladesh Premier League as well as the Global T20 league of South Africa.

PCB chief Najam Sethi claims to have imposed the sanctions on Akmal with a ‘heavy heart’ and hopes that they would serve as an example to the players to be mindful of their actions and consequences.

Akmal had been issued a show-cause notice by the PCB after his starkling allegations to which the batsman had responded by saying that his actions were impulsive and unintentional.
