Unsurprisingly, India’s Ravichandran Ashwin has ended the year as the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket.
Last week, Ashwin received both ICC Cricketer of the Year and ICC Test Cricketer of the Year awards for his brilliant performances with both bat and ball this calendar year.
Ashwin is followed by Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath, who was named Man of the Series when the Sri Lankans whitewashed Australia 3-0 in July and August.
Despite Australia’s struggles, Mitchell Starc was one shining light for Steve Smith’s men and he comes in at third spot, having picked up 50 wickets in 2016.
At number four is Stuart Broad, who continues to put in world-class performances on a consistent basis. The Englishman is followed by South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Pakistan’s Yasir Shah, both of whom clinched 46 wickets.
Here, we look at the top five wicket-takers in Tests in 2016.
