Australia took the upper hand on day one of the third Test against India, thanks to an unbeaten 159-run partnership between captain Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell.
At the end of day’s play, the visitors were 299/4 after Smith scored his 19th Test ton and Maxwell brought up his first half-century in Test cricket.
On Twitter, former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist called Smith a “legend” while former pacer Mitchell Johnson called it an “outstanding day [for Australia]”.
Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle, on the other hand, feels that India require a special batting performance to come back into this match.
