  • Real Madrid are ready to re-ignite their interest in Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.

According to Neil Custis, the Spanish and European champions are preparing an offer of around £46million with De Gea now Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane’s top target.

The ascension of Marco Asensio has apparently convinced Zidane he no longer needs to sign Monaco star Kylian Mbappe and in turn will now try to sign De Gea instead, a player the club tried and failed to sign two years ago.

The Spain international was on the verge of joining Real when a deadline-day faxing error infamously scuppered the deal.

While De Gea could be on his way out of Old Trafford, United are still in the market to bring players in and haven’t given up hope of signing Ivan Perisic.

Jose Mourinho is crying out for an out-and-out winger and has tabled a £39million offer to Inter Milan for the Croatia international.

The Serie A side want closer to £48million but United chiefs are reluctant to shell out that sort of fee for a player who will turn 29 early next year.

According to the Mirror, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has met Perisic’s agent, Fali Ramadani, in recent days to try to push through a deal.
