  • Needing balance: Luis Garcia.

Bani Yas coach Luis Garcia has demanded an improvement from his defenders ahead of their clash with Al Shabab on Saturday.

The Sky Blues conceded their first goals of the season in their 3-3 draw against Fujairah last week, and while he was satisfied with his attacking players, Garcia voiced his frustration at the back four.

“We have more power in our attacking options but I see too many problems in my defence,” the Spaniard said. “There should be a balance between defence and attack. I need to keep my attack strong but we also need balance because I don’t want to have to score too many goals every game.”

His cause will not be helped with first-choice goalkeeper Mohsin Al Hashmi ruled out for six months after rupturing his cruciate ligament in training.

Midfielder Amer Abdulrahman returns to the starting 11, while Royston Drenthe could feature. Garcia is wary of Al Shabab’s attack, be led by former Manchester City and Everton striker Jo.

“Caio Junior (coach) has kept the same system as last season and he has many ways to play, whether it’s counter-attack, attack, or playing long-ball,” he said. “It will be a strong match and a good one for the fans to enjoy.”
