  • Antoine Griezmann will be a “revelation” in the Premier League if he decides to swap Spain for England.

That is the view of his France team-mate Bacary Sagna as the 26-year-old Atletico Madrid striker looks to decide his future next month.

Griezmann said there as a 6/10 chance he could join long-time suitors Manchester United this summer, but neighbours City, Chelsea and Arsenal have also been linked.

City defender Sagna knows all about the frontman’s qualities from their time together with the national team and does not believe he will flop like other big-money imports have done.

United broke their transfer record in 2014 to sign Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid for £59.1 million, but sold the winger to Paris Saint-Germain after just one disappointing season.

Juan Veron, Andriy Shevchenko and Radamel Falcao are other top foreign stars to fail in the Premier League, while Paul Pogba has struggled to justify his £89.3m arrival from Juventus, with the Old Trafford club needing to win Wednesday’s Europa League final against Ajax just to claim a place in next season’s Champions League.

Griezmann’s fee could top that world record purchase and Sagna said: “He’s a great player. Technically he is very talented and he can adapt to any team. For me, he can adapt to any league, any type of football.

“If he comes to the Premier League I am sure he will adapt quickly. I think he will be a revelation in the Premier League.

“He’s shown his quality at the Euros, in Spain with Atletico and he can do great in the Premier League. He has the ability to play for any single team here.”

Sagna must also wait to see if he will be playing in England next season.

He is set to join Pablo Zabaleta and Gael Clichy out of the Etihad once his City contract expires in June and says he wants to keep playing at a high level, rather than look at clubs in the Middle East, China or USA.

“I want to play in the World Cup, it will be a target for next season,” added the 34-year-old full-back, who has won 65 caps for his country over the past decade.

“But to play in that I will need to be playing at a high level, I know this. I don’t know what will happen yet [in the future]. It’s been frustrating not to play more for City this season, but every time I played I tried to give the maximum for the team.

“I had a long season, last season, with the Euros as well and then a hard pre-season. It was quite difficult. But I learnt a lot from that and I will take more care with my body.”
