The Fantasy Premier League season is due for another international break after Gameweek 8 so it’s important to go into it on a positive note.

Manchester City host Liverpool at Anfield in the big match of the weekend while Chelsea and Arsenal have appealing home encounters with Sheffield United and Aston Villa respectively.

Meanwhile, Manchester United travel to Everton and Tottenham make the trip to West Brom.

Here are a few tips to help guide you through GW8.

    CAPTAIN – HARRY KANE | TOTTENHAM | 11.0M

    Harry Kane

You could go with either Son Heung-min [9.6m] or Harry Kane for the captaincy this week but the latter is proving to be the more reliable. Both have managed 71 points each – more than anyone else in the game – this season but the Spurs skipper shows a greater ability to sustain that output given he’s on penalties and is taking the most shots in the league.

Jose Mourinho takes his side to West Brom who have the worst defensive record in the league, conceding 16 goals already. Meanwhile, Kane is averaging 14 points per game on the road this term with scores of 21, 16 and 5.

    ALTERNATIVE

TIMO WERNER (9.3m) is also an excellent choice if you’re staying away from the Spurs duo. He’s recovered from a slow start in the league and has bagged three goals and an assist in the last three GWs. He’s now on penalties as well after converting twice from the spot against Rennes.

    BOLD CHOICE

PABLO FORNALS (6.4m) has been in top form for Wets Ham with two double-figure hauls this campaign including 10 points in GW7 against Liverpool. The Hammers welcome Fulham to the London Stadium this week.

    ONE TO GET

    WILFRIED ZAHA | CRYSTAL PALACE | 7.4M

    Wilfred Zaha

    Wilfred Zaha

Crystal Palace have an attractive run of games ahead and that makes Wilfried Zaha an even more appealing option than he already is. As the main man for the Eagles, he’s been involved in 75 per cent of their goals. He’s scored twice and assisted once in the last three GWs while his penalty-taking duties will certainly prove useful a few more times this season.

    ONE TO AVOID

    RAUL JIMENEZ | WOLVES | 8.5M

    Raul Jimenez

Make no mistake, Raul Jimenez is still a good option and has chipped away with four goals this season. However, he’s never scored more than one goal in a single game this term and isn’t showing the potential for big hauls. Wolves have a tough run of fixtures coming up as well and his 8.5m value could be put to better use with strikers like Callum Wilson [6.5], Patrick Bamford [6.0m] and Dominic Calvert-Lewin [7.7m] all representing cheaper alternatives.

    BARGAIN BUY

    CALLUM WILSON | NEWCASTLE UNITED | 6.5M

    Callum Wilson

And that brings us to Callum Wilson who has been criminally underrated this season among FPL managers. Granted, Newcastle strikers haven’t delivered in recent years but the Englishman is the real deal. He already has eight goal involvements and two double-figure hauls this term. He’s the third highest scorer among strikers and is owned by only 15 per cent of teams.
