Using polls on our Instagram stories, we pit players in each position against each other and let you decide who deserves to make the cut.

Chelsea and Liverpool wide men feature in our XI while two Bayern Munich stars make the cut as well as does Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen.

Here’s what our latest European Team of the Week looks like:

    GK: Alex McCarthy (Southampton)

He may have ended up on the losing side but the Saints keeper made six stops, including a world class triple save, to contend with an eager Newcastle United side that had 14 attempts at goal. McCarthy even denied Matt Ritchie from the spot with an excellent save.

    RB: Achraf Hakimi (Borussia Dortmund)

Made several promising runs forward runs forward throughout the clash with Borussia Monchengladbach but only really came to life in the second half. Jadon Sancho picked out one of impressive forays forward and Hakimi finished expertly to win the game 2-1.

    CB: Jerome Boateng (Bayern Munich)

Apart from one suspect moment when he played a dangerous pass to Manuel Neuer, Boateng’s display was top notch as he cruised through proceedings. He even created the opening goal with an exquisite ball over the top for Thomas Muller to score in a 2-0 win over Augsburg.

    CB: Nayef Aguerd (Dijon)

Dijon climbed out of the bottom three with a huge 2-1 win over fellow relegation scrappers Toulouse and they have centre-back Nayef Aguerd to thank for it. Not only did the defender lead the way with six clearances but he also scored the crucial winning goal at the other end.

    LB: Wendell (Bayer Leverkusen)

The Brazilian full-back put in an assured performance during a comfortable 4-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Second for passes and touches in the encounter, he was key to their build-up play and made three clearances as well.

    CM: Aaron Ramsey (Juventus)

A dynamic display from Ramsey powered Juventus back to the summit of Serie A with a 2-0 win over Inter Milan. The former Arsenal midfielder scored from close range to make the breakthrough before doing well to set up second-half substitute Paulo Dybala.

    CM: Thiago (Bayern Munich)

Bossed the midfield with his passing but also led the way with four interceptions, four aerial duels won and five dribbles as well. He played 104 passes as he strutted around the middle of the park with Augsburg players incapable of getting near him.

    RW: Willian (Chelsea)

Everton didn’t put up much of fight as Chelsea dispatched them 4-0. Willian scored the third with a thumping effort from range before setting up Olivier Giroud with a fine cross, one of five he whipped in during the victory.

    CAM: Dimitri Payet (Marseille)

Four of Payet’s seven shots against Amiens were on target and when he scored with a fine strike from outside the area in a fine attacking display, Marseille seemed home and dry with a 2-0 lead. The Frenchman also had five dribbles but was substituted in the 79th minute before the visitors equalised with two late goals.

    LW: Sadio Mane (Liverpool)

It seemed like Liverpool would be denied a win again until Mane set up Mohamed Salah for to level the game against Bournemouth at 1-1. He then ran onto Virgil van Dijk’s pass a few minutes later to give the Reds the lead with a superb finish. Mane had three shots and two key passes and also struck the woodwork on one occasion.

    FW: Kai Havertz (Bayer Leverkusen)

Played up front against Frankfurt and did well to open the scoring in the fourth minute from a Moussa Diaby cross. He set up Paulinho for the fourth goal before calling it a day as he was substituted just past the hour-mark with the game done and dusted.
