Here’s what our latest European Team of the Week looks like:

    GK: Robin Zentner (Mainz)

Made six saves at Signal Iduna Park to hold Borussia Dortmund to a 1-1 draw. His save to deny Julian Brandt in the first half, throwing himself to his left and turning the ball around the post with his finger tips, particularly stood out.

    RB: Thomas Meunier (Dortmund)

Looked good at the back, making three tackles. He got forward as well and fired home the equaliser from the edge of the box. Did well to win a late penalty only for Marco Reus to miss from the spot and squander the chance for all three points.

    CB: John Stones (Man City)

The resurgent centre-back made no tackles, blocks, interceptions or clearances, but he did plenty with the ball at his feet. John Stones was key in the build-up play, making a game-high 116 passes at a 95.7-per-cent success rate and scored two excellent goals in a 4-0 triumph over Crystal Palace.

    CB: Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli)

Another centre-back on the right end of a mauling, Kalidou Koulibaly also made the most passes in his encounter [77]. He was good on the ball, made four blocks and an excellent clearance off the line to maintain a clean sheet in a thumping 6-0 win over Fiorentina.

    LB: Luke Shaw (Man United)

Composed, calculated and flawless, Luke Shaw had one of his best games in a Manchester United shirt as he totally nullified chief threat Mohamed Salah at Anfield. The left-back made an impressive eight ball recoveries and even created two chances in a brilliant display.

CM: Kevin De Bruyne (Man City)

His assist for the opening goal was a thing of beauty, a sublime outside of the boot delivery for Stones to head home. That was one of three key passes he made in the game, while he also managed four tackles – more than any other City player.

    CM: Diego Demme (Napoli)

An energetic performance in the middle of the park against Fiorentina. He made four tackles and two interceptions in addition to scoring a fine goal, arriving late into the box at the end of a sweeping counter-attacking move.

    CM: Nicolo Barella (Inter)

A quite outstanding all-round display from the 23-year-old as he completed three dribbles and three key passes. His cross saw Arturo Vidal score the opener before bagging the second himself. A match-winning performance against the champions.

    FW: Raheem Sterling (Man City)

Worked the channels well and played a hand in the opening goal, distributing it wide for De Bruyne. He went on to score with a sumptuous free-kick in a strong individual performance.

    FW: Luka Jovic (Eintracht Frankfurt)

After scoring twice in 32 appearances for Real Madrid, Luka Jovic matched that tally on his return to Eintracht Frankfurt in just 28 minutes. A dream homecoming featured two outstanding finishes in a memorable cameo.

    FW: Lorenzo Insigne (Napoli)

A measured finish from the edge of the box for his first and made no mistake from the spot for his second. His best moment though was when he ran from inside his own half, taking on three defenders before playing a perfect through-ball for Hirving Lozano’s goal.
