The stakes were high as both Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic faced off in the French Open Final.
Djokovic was looking to win his first Roland Garros title while the Spaniard was aiming for his record fifth in a row.
The match was played on a stifling Parisian afternoon and it was Nadal who coped better.
After losing the first set fairly easily, Nadal made a brilliant comeback to seal a 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, 6-4 win in three hours and 31 minutes.
For a third year in a row Nadal ended Djokovic’s French Open hopes. It also extended his run at Roland Garros to 66 wins and just one defeat in 10 years.
