    DUBAI DUTY FREE TENNIS ATP 2017
    Monday, February 27 to Friday, March 3

    Staged at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Garhoud, the action will commence on 27 February with the ATP World Tour 500 tournament offering a combined prize pool of US$5.2 million.

    World No.1 Andy Murray, seven-time Dubai champion Roger Federer, defending champion Stan Wawrinka, two-time Dubai finalist Tomas Berdych, and the entertaining world number seven Gael Monfils will all be taking part in the competition in 2017.

    2017 WORLD SHOOTING PARA SPORT WORLD CUP – DAY 9 & Final Day

    The Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club will soon host more than 100 athletes from 22 different countries as the World Shooting Para Sport World Cup kicks off.

    2017 FIDE WORLD CHESS GRAND PRIX – DAY 11 & Final Day
    Monday, February 27 to Tuesday, February 28

    The Sharjah Chess and Cultural Club has, for the first time, been announced as the FIDE World Chess Grand Prix season opener. Watch grandmasters battle it out for the grand prize.

    As the first stage of the FIDE Grand Prix, the series will now accommodate more players, seeing 18 players rather than the traditional 12-player format. This roster of grandmasters will keep one eye on the chessboard and the other on the prize purse of €130,000 (509,000 AED).

    ABU DHABI WILSON TENNIS CUP – DAY 5 to DAY 11
    Monday, February 27 to Sunday 5

    Organised by Zayed Sports City, the Abu Dhabi Wilson Tennis Cup was established five years ago to help promote and proliferate tennis talent across the seven emirates.

    With 20 divisions from men, women, boys, girls, pros and amateurs, there is no excuse for individuals to miss out on the chance to walk onto the court and participate in the country’s largest amateur tennis tournament.

    KIBSONS / DASSA SCHOOLS X-COUNTRY – FINAL SENIORS RACE

    Super Sports Events organises another fun-filled event for the youth of Dubai. Approved by DASSA and Dubai Sports Council, the aquathlon pits students against each other or as a collective bunch against other school teams in a three-race series.

    Held in Rashid School for Boys, the Kibsons-sponsored affair will include separate categories for competing boys and girls with three age brackets, ensuring a delightful afternoon of running.

    ITU WORLD TRIATHLON ABU DHABI 2017 – DAY 1 & FINAL DAY
    Friday, March 3 and March 4

    Another ITU World Triathlon season kicks off in March 2017, with the curtain-raiser returning to Abu Dhabi again. The series sees the world’s finest triathletes compete in a nine-staged championship, while amateurs also participate in a variety of categories.

    This year, with a brand new location at Yas Marina, the action promises to be better than ever.

    GEMS TRIATHLON CHALLENGE 2017

    It all began in 2014 when GEMS Education invited students, parents and teaching staff from universities and school across the UAE to participate in the inaugural triathlon.

    The event proved a great success and the triathlon proudly announces its third edition in February.

    The family-inclusive event involves diverse race categories for all ages, meaning everyone willing to swim, bike and run the appropriate distances are more than welcome to confirm their presence at the GEMS Wellingtom Academy.

    2XU COMPRESSION RUN SERIES – RACE 4

    From novice to veteran, young or old, all passionate runners are more than welcome to take part in the 2xU Compression Run Series. The community race will have its participants spoilt for choice as various distances on the closed off roads of Meydan remain at their disposal.

    Participants who exceed in their age brackets will respectively acquire points after running the Track Golf Clubhouse loop. The lucky few who edge past their competition are guaranteed an array of prizes.

    Regardless of rankings, all participants have a shot at winning a dream trip to Thailand and relish their stay at the Thanyapura Sports Resort.

    CITY SWIM SERIES – AJMAN

    Originating with canal swims in Amsterdam and New York’s Hudson River, the City Swim series arrives on the UAE’s picturesque shorelines.

    The inaugural race will be held at the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort in Dubai before shifting across the emirates in a four-stage series. More locations are expected to be added to the calendar in coming months.

    More than 200 swimmers have already confirmed their presence with four distances available to five age-appropriate categories. Finishers will be awarded medals for their effort.

    JLT CHALLENGE BY RUSH-A-WAY 2017

    Exhilarating challenges aren’t tough to come by in Dubai but Rush-A-Way’s latest offering adds another dimension as 150 teams set out and conquer a series of 10 challenges around the Jumeirah Lake Towers.

    With the return of the JLT Challenge, teams have the chance of winning 10,000 AED on foot. Participants can decide to jog, or run between challenges – no car or driving licence required!

    The format works as follows: teams will earn points at each location depending on how fast they were able to successfully complete their given task. The team able to amass the most points in categories such as calisthenics, paddle-boarding, go-karting and  archery, will go home victorious.
