  • Hundreds of kids enjoyed a morning of tennis at the WTA J

Children from schools across the UAE enjoyed the WTA J.P. Morgan Kids’ Day which included a tennis clinic for all ages and skill levels, entertainment, photo opportunities and a meet and greet with some top WTA players.

The two hour long session was led by tennis coaches from the Clark Francis Tennis Academy and gave children an opportunity to learn about the sport and either ignite their passion for tennis or learn some new skills.

WTA players Christina McHale and Lauren Davis were special guests, giving youngsters in attendance tips on how to improve their game before taking part in a Q&A session and having a hit with the budding players.

“This morning was a lot of fun, I love interacting with kids and there were some great hitters out there, some had a lot of power. It’s great to be here and I’m really looking forward to this year’s tournament” said Davis.

Mohammed, aged 11 from GEMS School Royal Dubai School, was one of the many children to enjoy the day.

“I had a great time this morning, I’ve been playing tennis for a long time but I had a break and now I think I’ll take it back up again,” he said.

Tournament director, Salah Talak, added: “The number of kids that take part in our sessions continues to grow year on year and this showcases the passion for the sport.

“We are committed to supporting the development of the sport in the region and we hope to see many of today’s budding tennis players become stars in the future like their idols.”

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships runs from Sunday until March 4 and tickets for every day of the event, including the finals, are still available from the Dubai Tennis Stadium box office which opens from 9am to 9pm daily.
