Virat Kohli has continued his rise up the ICC Test rankings for batsmen, climbing up to number three.

The Indian captain has scored 405 runs in six innings at an average of 101.25 in the on-going series against England and that has definitely helped his cause.

Cheteshwar Pujara is in eighth position in the top 10.

Kohli is now just 14 points behind England’s Joe Root, who is in second spot with 847 points. Australian captain Steve Smith continues to top the rankings, maintaining a healthy 50-point lead at the top.

Meanwhile, England’s wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow has moved into the top ten of the rankings for the first time in his career. With 1355 runs to his name in 2016, Bairstow is the highest run-scorer in Test cricket this year and has been in top form even in the series against India where some of his team-mates have failed to produce the goods.
