MS Dhoni is one of the greatest Indian cricketers ever and as he turns 36, we have a look at some of the most memorable moments of his international career in pictures.

The wicket-keeper batsman made his international debut back in 2004 and was run-out without scoring in his first match. His fortunes would soon change as he notched up a superb century in just his fifth ODI innings.

He hasn’t looked back since, going on to become one of the finest batsmen the one-day game has seen. In 296 ODIs so far, he has scored 9496 runs at an average of 51.32 which is among the best of all time.

Dhoni also had a fine career in Test cricket before retiring from the format at the end of 2014, managing 4876 runs at an average of 38.09 in 90 matches – some very good stats for someone who also kept wickets.

He also had quite a remarkable career as captain of the Indian side – leading the team to multiple ICC trophies in limited overs cricket and the number one ranking in Tests.

Dhoni is the Indian captain with the most wins as skipper in Tests (27), ODIs (110) and of course T20Is (41).
