Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has been interviewed for the managerial vacancy at League One Oldham.
If he were to get the post, he’d become the latest in a long line of players to join the Sir Alex Ferguson coaching tree.
Many footballers who played under the Scot at United have gone on to take up managerial roles, with mixed success. Bryan Robson, Roy Keane, and Gary Neville are among the high-profile flops, although Keane is now enjoying a resurgence as Martin O’Neill’s assistant in the Republic of Ireland setup, and is expected to take over whenever O’Neill vacates the job.
