It was a good day for India.

India ended day one of the Test against Bangladesh on 356/3 thanks mainly to centuries from Murali Vijay and Virat Kohli.

Vijay slammed his ninth Test hundred before being dismissed for 108. On the other hand, Kohli was unbeaten on 111 at the end of the day’s play.

Earlier, India had won the toss and elected to bat first on what looks like a very good batting track. But the hosts got off to a terrible start, losing opener KL Rahul for just two in the first over of the Test.

It was then that Cheteshwar Pujara who joined Vijay in the middle and as they have done a few times in the past, the duo built a big partnership that accounted for 178 runs.

While Vijay notched up a century, Pujara was dismissed for 83, shortly after he had broken the record for scoring the most runs in a first-class season in India.

Late in the day, Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane put on another 100-run partnership for the hosts, with their stand unbeaten on 122.

Taskin Ahmed, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam picked up a wicket a piece for Bangladesh.
