  • There’s a reason Andrea Pirlo is one of the most beloved footballers of his generation. Well, actually, there are several.

That scarcely believable pinpoint passing that few, if any, could rival. The stunning free kicks. The almost unnatural composure he had on the ball, as if he had more time than everyone else. And let’s not forget, the Panenkas.

Then of course, there’s the hair.

There’s his love of the PlayStation, something that football fans can relate to when nearly everything else about Pirlo is otherworldly.

This is a man who won six Serie A titles, two Champions League winners’ medals, one World Cup triumph, who was the top assist provider in the 2006 World Cup and the man of the match in the 2006 World Cup final. A man with an unmistakeable touch of genius, and a dry wit that was best on display in his autobiography, I Think Therefore I Am.
