  • Mitchell Johnson: Banging on the Socceroos door?

Though  Johnson has retired from international cricket, the ageing Australian still has agility to give younger players a run for their money.

During the third match of the Indian Premier League’s ninth addition, Kings XI Punjab’s bowling spearhead showed that he is still fit enough to play the gentleman’s game.

Johnson, 34, came to bowl the 14th over of Gujarat Lions’ innings, and displayed his football skills to get his team a wicket.

Dinesh Karthik placed the back of a length ball near the side of the pitch and tried to snatch a single, with one of the fastest runners in world cricket Ravindra Jadeja on the non-striker end.

But on his follow through, Johnson sprinted towards the ball and kicked it onto the stumps at the keeper’s end, finding Jadeja well short of his crease.

His football skills would have made Lionel Messi proud!

Aside from that one piece of dynamism, however, Johnson looked rusty with the ball as KXIP lost their opening tie against Gujarat Lions by five wickets.
